Never too late to find success
I have struggled with my weight all my life and have faithfully exercised by often getting up at 3:45 AM to swim before work. I have tried many diets and plans to assist with my goal of healthy living with limited success. A friend suggested that I try the following food group intake as part of my daily plan and I have found success. I actually get to eat and have only had to make small modifications in my food intake. I am loosing weight, eating more than I ever have, and am motivated because I am seeing results.
I have shared my success story with my "2009 Live Healthy America Team" and want to share it with others who encounter obstacles as they try to live and eat in a healthy manner.
Daily Healthy Food Intake
2 -3 oz servings of chicken, turkey, fish or low-fat cottage cheese. Beef limited to 1- 3 oz serving a week. No pork.
3 whole grain servings a day including cereal and bread. 1/2 to 1 cup cereal per serving. bread serving 90 calorie or less.
3 fruit servings e.g. small apple
3 vegetable servings consisting of 1/2 cup cooked or 1 cup fresh vegetables. no corn or potatoes.
3 fat free milk servings including yogurt of 80 calories or less
1/2 cup serving of legumes
Crock Pots are great for preparing good food in advance and I like good food! Whole Wheat "Salad Pockets" from Hy-Vee with taco seasoned chicken breast chunks with legumes on top make an excellent daily meal for work lunches. Dried legumes can be soaked in water over night or during the dayand drained and cooked in a crock pot with water covering them set on low for about seven hours. Three to four chicken breasts can be cooked on low in a crock pot for 6-7 hours without water and then cut in chunks and put in a covered pan with taco seasoning and about 1/2 cup water and cooked on a stove and simmered until tender.
I would like to encourage everyone that it is never too late to find success.
