He walked past a person who was running.

I would like to mention an outstanding member of our team in the person of E. Delano Ingham.

Delano was an inspiration to the whole team in his quest to put forward the best performance of our entire club.  It is safe to say that if he were a team by himself in our club he would have been at or near the top in activity.  He achieved 172 hours 30 min (latest as at 9:01pm AST May 6 09) and had a weight loss of 2.378%.

At one event, ‘Zoom Around the Sound’ he walked past a person who was running and completed the 7.2 mile walk in 1 hour and 20 minutes.  He was clearly the fastest person in our team and in this respect had no peer in our club.  Add to this is the fact that he is far from being one of our younger members.

On Bermuda’s narrow roads he has sometimes to take measures to prevent being struck by protruding mirrors on passing vehicles.  After being struck by an apologetic truck driver he took to carrying a stick which he displays around blind corners to warn approaching traffic of his presence.

If there was ever a role model, Delano is that person.  He volunteers on a regular basis at Windreach Recreational Village, which is a facility for physically challenged young persons.  He volunteers for other organizatons and has frequently been cited for his community service.
