I practically had become a couch potato.

I entered this challenge with a goal of losing 23-25 lbs. I have lost 10. I also wanted to increase my activity - I practically had become a couch potato, once I go home, fix dinner for the family and eat, go to bed. If I drove to the store, I'd park as close as I could. Now my Sunday ritual to get a newspaper is by walking the 3 miles to get it. I took advantage of the hospital's benefit of joining 24 hour fitness  - I figured I could at least go once a month and get my ten dollar refund. Well, I do go at lest once a month, I increased my walking from just getting in the car to daily 30-45 minute walks and small runs in between. I started doing some calisthenics and a little weights. I initially lost the first 5 lbs in couple of weeks. I increased activity, but figured out that I also had to change my diet. Smaller portions. I still have a long ways to go, but the challenge of having 3 teenagers - twin boys 14 and a 16 year old daughter is keeping me working on being healthy and active so I be there for them and my spouse of 18 years. I will continue to work towards the other 10-13 lbs and increasing my activity - It really feels good to get into a pair of pants that were previously too tight! It feels good to be able to run again - I want to work toward  a half-marathon and maybe even a marathon! I know I have a long ways to go, but that's part of the challenge and drive that keeps me going.
