How Many Calories are you Burning?
In order to maintain your current weight, the calories you consume must equal the calories you expend during a day. The calories you expend include those that your body burns to maintain basic functioning (Basal Metabolic Rate), those that you expend during normal daily living, and those that are used to fuel you during exercise. In order to lose weight this amount of calories must be less than those you burn during the day. One pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories so in order to lose one pound per week you must either eat 500 fewer calories per day or burn 500 more calories per day. Visit WebMD to learn more about Fitness and Exercise to calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate and find out approximately how many calories you burn doing your favorite exercises.
